Performs work in technical field & office engineering work relating to sanitary sewer, water, street, traffic control, & storm water projects.
Reviews plans & specifications for both private developments & public works projects for compliance with pertinent codes & accepted engineering practices.
Conducts subsequent field inspections to assure compliance with the approved plans & specifications.
Actively involved in the development review process.
Assists with the implementation & management of a storm water program; reviews & prepares complex calculations for drainage studies & hydraulic water modeling.
Develops technical construction plans & specifications for installation of water lines, sewer lines, & street & drainage improvements.
Prepares engineering estimates of public works projects; assists with the preparation of engineering feasibility reports.
Prepares & reviews traffic control related analysis.
Works with Computer-Aided Drafting & Design (CADD), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), & other technical software systems.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from ABET accredited university, with a preference for the civil discipline.
Civil Engineer II: Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Kansas.
Civil Engineer I: Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Kansas, or the ability to acquire it within six (6) months from the start of employment; Interim Engineer (IE) certificate preferred.
Experience:
Civil Engineer II: Five (5) years design experience on civil engineering projects in the private sector preferred.
Civil Engineer I: One (1) year design experience on civil engineering projects in the private sector preferred.
Requirements:
Must possess a valid Kansas driver’s license.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need of a sponsorship.
Work Type: Medium, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Paid Time Off: • 60 hours of vacation available upon hire; additional 60 hours earned during the year (120 hours in first year). • 96 hours of sick leave during first year.
