The City of Visalia is recruiting for Engineers and Project Managers in its Engineering Division to oversee completion of Capital Improvement Projects. Positions may be filled at any level based on candidate qualifications.

THE DIVISION The City of Visalia’s Engineering Division provides a high level of customer service and a safe work environment for residents, contractors, and city employees accomplished through managing the planning, design, construction, and inspection of public capital infrastructure projects; providing transportation planning and traffic engineering services; providing technical support to the planning department and building division on engineering issues related to private development projects; and maintaining and improving the City's mapping system and providing survey information for public and private projects.
POSITION The selected Engineers/Project Managers will oversee completion of City capital improvement projects which may include transportation/traffic systems (e.g., road widening, traffic signals, fiber optic signal interconnectivity), bicycle trails, park improvements, pavement preservation and rehabilitation, storm sewer improvement, parking lot and facilities maintenance and retrofits, and public infrastructure maintenance. Staff will monitor and inspect the work of contractors and vendors to evaluate progress on project completion; prepare estimates, Requests for Bids, change orders, and documents associated with projects. Engineers/Project Managers will be expected to coordinate and work collaboratively with contractors, vendors, City departments and divisions.

QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge, skill and ability is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skill and abilities would be:
BS degree in related field and 4 years of project management experience.
