The Department of Bioengineering seeks applications for open-rank (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor), interdisciplinary faculty candidates with research interests focused within Synthetic Biology and Mechanobiology.
Appointments will be primarily or fully in the Department of Bioengineering. This position has potential for both joint cross-department appointments and joint cross-college appointments in the College of Science and Bouvé College of Health Sciences.
We are seeking up to 2 faculty this cycle with research interests and expertise in areas of:
Synthetic Biology areas of interest & departmental connections:
Molecular and cellular engineering (Bioengineering, Biology, Chemical Engineering)
Synthetic biology solutions for environmental and sustainability challenges (Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Chemistry and Chemical Biology, Marine and Environmental Science)
Applications of machine learning to synthetic biology (Bioengineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Khoury College of Computer Sciences)
Mechanobiology areas of interest & departmental connections:
Physico-Mechanobiology (Bioengineering, Physics, School of Clinical Rehab Sciences (Bouvé College))
Immuno-Onco-Mechanobiology (Bioengineering, Biology, Chemical Engineering)
Biomaterial-Mechanobiology (Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical and Industrial Engineering)
Mechanobiology of aging (Bioengineering, Biology, Bouve College, School of Pharmacy)
A Ph.D. in engineering or a closely relevant field relevant to Bioengineering by the appointment start date is required. We encourage applicants from a wide range of backgrounds, including academia and industry and encourage joint appointments within and across colleges. Many of our recent hires enjoy joint appointments with the Department of Bioengineering, and we are seeking candidates who are interested in this collaborative environment. Academic rank at the Associate Professor and Full Professor levels will be commensurate with experience and qualifications reflecting a record of demonstrated teaching and scholarly excellence.
