Responsibilities to include monitoring the day-to-day functions of Unit Forgings Railroad Products business to ensure that the needs of all railroad customers are met. This includes the order entry process, entering all railroad related purchase orders, managing railroad manufactured and purchased product inventory levels, resolving problems, communicating order status and corresponding with customers, and communicating requirement needs with all internal departments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Be the primary liaison between Unit Forgings and our railroad customers externally and between the Sales Department and Manufacturing Departments internally.
Process customer orders for all Railroad Products, including Center Plates, Draft Lugs, Assemblies, and Snubber product.
Maintain and develop customer relationships to insure the highest level of customer service and satisfaction while increasing sales.
Work with the major railroad customers on forecasting usage requirements.
Monitor and maintain inventory levels of raw material, forged product, and finished components to insure we are able to meet future customer requirements.
Coordinate with Engineering to insure current drawing and specification control.
Track and insure timely resolution of all customer commercial issues.
Champion the customer while actively seeking ways to improve profit, market share, and our reputation.
Periodic travel to call on existing and prospective railroad customers with some occasional overnight stays possible.
Attend trade shows related to the railroad industry when and where applicable.
Monitor and maintain pricing to insure maximum profit levels are achieved.
Submit quotations to customers and follow up to insure new business opportunities are realized.
Assist the Customer Service Manager with handling non-Railroad customers as needed.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor of Science degree or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as drawings, specifications, purchase orders, and contracts. Ability to write routine reports and communicate with customers on all related commercial issues.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate costs for pricing purposes.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MRP/ERP systems, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and CRM software.
