Join our organization in this new role! Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) is seeking a Senior Management Analyst to collect and analyze data and metrics to improve the strategy, effectiveness, and operational efficiency of the Media & Public Affairs department. Overseeing the Metrics and Insights function, this role will work with internal and external partners to identify and analyze data for the purpose of gaining insights to inform SCAG’s marketing and communication programs and plans. The Senior Management Analyst will also identify and track key performance metrics for the Media & Public Affairs department for the purpose of making ongoing recommendations for increasing the team’s effectiveness and operational efficiency.
This position contributes to the organization’s mission by supporting individual goals of planning programs, positioning the agency with key audiences and growing engagement with its offering, as well as contributing to the overall operational health of the organization through continuous improvement and process enhancements.
SCAG’s Media and Public Affairs Department performs many key functions for the agency, such as deploying strategic communications to further agency priorities and foster public understanding of long-range regional planning. The department aims to produce clear and consistent communications, media, and promotional campaigns that exemplify agency values and standards, and enhance the SCAG brand as a respected and influential voice for the region by increasing awareness of agency’s work and purpose.

In this role you can expect to:
Contribute to development of a goal structure for Media & Public Affairs team, including associated key performance indicators and metrics to measure them
Monitor, track and evaluate progress toward team goals, and make recommendations for optimizing work to better serve the goals
Advise Media & Public Affairs team on areas of strategy related to these insights to inform tactical plans
Oversee paid media planning and evaluation
Identify and analyze data from Planning and outside sources to inform marketing and communication programs and activity, prepare recommendations for acting on these insights
Present insights and recommendations to project and program teams, including strategic opportunities related to these insights to inform tactical plans
Plot and measure regular metrics around team workflow
Analyze regular team workflow metrics and recommend improvements to optimize efficiency and productivity
Present evaluations and insights on operational improvements to team and outside departments, as needed, and advise team on related areas of strategy related to these insights to inform tactical plans
Oversee audience, brand and message-related research projects, as needed
Assist with budget projections, tracking and management, as needed
Perform other duties as assigned
What you'll bring to this role:
A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be with 5 years' experience in data analytics, research, and marketing strategy, and budget analysis and development, especially in a public setting, and a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
Any combination of training, education, and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may also be considered.
We’ll be a great match if you also have:
2-3 years of experience as an analyst or researcher in marketing insights, political campaigning and/or management consulting
Experience working with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems
Experience with survey methodology and research design
Ability to proactively identify opportunities and find stories within data
Strong administrative and organizational skills
Strong communication and presentation skills
Experience leveraging software tools needed for data collection and analysis
