The starting salary range for this position is $115,950 - $154,600 (based on qualifications). With tenure and strong performance in this role an employee may earn up to a maximum of $193,250, annualized.

Overview Supervise the activities of the Customer Utilities meter shop in accordance with the objectives and policies of the District. The incumbent is responsible for achieving efficient and economical construction and maintenance of District and Customer metering facilities including commercial, industrial and residential facilities, monitoring of the health of the District's meter systems, and accurate and timely meter reading. Supervise daily operations and job assignments for the Shop Foremen, Metermen and Meter readers.
Supervise the activities of the meter shop foremen, journeyman metermen, and meter readers to ensure assigned work is completed in a safe, cost effective, prioritized, and productive manner. Provide counseling, coaching, and development opportunities, and evaluate work performance in accordance with established procedures and written expectations. Regularly visit jobsites to monitor and verify work quality and thoroughness for proper standards adherence, provide guidance, and assist and support meter shop employees.
Plan, schedule, and coordinate the meter shop activities with the District’s Distribution, Substation, Fiber and Tech Shop groups, along with all customers and external stakeholders. Plan, schedule, and coordinate activities to ensure all electric, water and wastewater meters are read accurately and timely in accordance with established Customer Relations billing cycles. May include supervision of contracted resources.
Responsible for procedures associated with monitoring, assignment, and resolution of various AMI head end events, alarms, and functions.
Develop and administer Meter Service Department and capital budget for the meter shop operations, tools and meter supplies, including procurement of all meter orders. Approve and review all purchases for electrical equipment, tools and spare parts as requested by staff.
Direct the development of required equipment and materials standards. Develop and administer work procedures for the district’s electrical and mechanical equipment and ensure that the maintenance work histories are completed. Ensure that prints, manufacturer's manuals and other documents are complete and appropriately filed. Act as duty supervisor and handle after hours’ emergencies as required.
Maintain regular and predictable attendance: Perform related duties and responsibilities as required. Comply with District policies. Complete all required training. Maintain a working knowledge and comply with District safety procedures and specific safety requirements of this position, and those in accordance with applicable provisions of the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) and Washington Administrative Code (WAC). Employees with access to confidential employee records and information are required to restrict access from any unauthorized person, except on a need to know basis.

Education Equivalent experience (year for year) may substitute for required education.
Journeyman Certification as Meterman, Lineman, or Wireman required or
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business Administration or related field, may substitute for journeyman certification.
5+ years skilled trade experience in electric or metering operations, maintenance, or closely related experience engineering or managing projects involving electronics, communications or metering systems Required
2+ years supervisory experience preferred or
2+ years candidates demonstrating initiative in leadership roles such as a planner, project leader, temporary superintendent, foreman, shop steward, or safety representative desired
Licenses and Certifications

Skills and Abilities A fully skilled incumbent will have the following knowledge skills & abilities:
Extensive knowledge of the Metering field as it relates to electric and or water utility systems.
Broad knowledge of the electrical utility industry.
In depth knowledge of applicable safety policies and standards.
Acute knowledge of metering in all commercial, industrial, and residential metering, both self-contained and current transformers or potential transformer services.
Working knowledge of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
