The City of Monmouth, Oregon currently has an opening for a Journeyman Lineman.
Current Salary: Per our agreement with IBEW Local 125 the lineman wage is $53.78 per hour. We offer a competitive benefit package including Oregon Public Employees Retirement System.
Job Definition: Under general supervision, performs a variety of duties associated with the installation, operation and maintenance of our electrical power transmission and distribution system. Current job description and application is available at www.ci.monmouth.or.us .
Essential Job Functions: This position consists of the maintenance, construction, inspection and operation of overhead and underground electrical distribution system – energized or de energized – in accordance with applicable City practices and standards; and City, State, and Federal safety practices and regulations. Minimum Qualifications: Any combination of education and experience that has provided the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for a lineman. Required qualifications are a High School Diploma or equivalent; possess a Journeyman Lineman certification (the equivalent of three years of directly related experience in electrical utility systems preferred) at the time of application; First Aid certification; CPR certification; and possess a valid Oregon Class A Commercial Driver license with D.O.T. medical certification (or obtain Oregon license within 30 days of employment).

Performs a variety of tasks associated with the provision of electrical service to industrial, commercial, and residential customers in the City of Monmouth. Though this list is not fully inclusive of the duties, a Lineman installs, maintains, and repairs overhead and underground electrical lines (live and/or de-energized); constructs new distribution lines; pulls, sags, and energizes conductors; operates heavy equipment and a large variety of hand tools; cleans and maintains equipment, tool, supplies, and materials; install and replaces power poles, transformers, power lines, and other power equipment; installs and removes meters.
