Hofstra University seeks to fill a postdoctoral position in the DeMatteis School of Engineering and Applied Science's Cell and Tissue Engineering Laboratory to work on independent research to achieve a better understanding of vascular mechanobiology. Upon satisfactory completion of the first two years of the position, the candidate will be considered for an additional adjunct faculty appointment in the Department of Engineering. The candidate is expected to focus on identifying how microenvironmental cues, including biomechanical stimulation, influence vascular endothelial cells. This position has an opportunity to train undergraduate students in research. The Lab is equipped with an Asylum MFP-3D-BIO AFM, Formlabs 3D Printer, Zeiss Axio Observer Z1 Fluorescent Microscope, BD FACSVerse Flow Cytometer, Bioflux Microfluidic System and qPCR machine.
PhD required. Candidate should possess engineer/scientist background. Candidate should possess extensive experience with cell culture, cell and molecular biology, fluorescent imaging and 3D printing techniques is required. Past research experiences in atomic force microscopy and microfluidic devices and vascular biology is preferred. Candidate should be capable of independent experimental design, manuscript preparation, and submission of proposals for funding.
