The Department of Anthropology invites applications for the full-time, tenure-track position of Assistant Professor in bioanthropology specialised in the study of past or present humans from an evolutionary perspective. We are particularly interested in applications from candidates engaged in genetic research in one or more of the following fields: ontogeny, phylogeny, disease ecology, behavioural ecology or adaptive variability. Other fields of specialisation will also be considered. The appointed candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, supervise graduate students, be active in research, publishing, and the diffusion of knowledge, and contribute to the activities of the department and the wider university.

The candidate must have a doctoral degree in anthropology or a related discipline before the date of appointment (scheduled on June 1st, 2021 or after) A strong research programme and relevant publication profile A demonstrated ability to teach at the university level An adequate knowledge of the French written and spoken language or a strong commitment to mastering the proficiency level required, in accordance with the Université de Montréal’s Language Policy. An institutional support program is offered to all professors needing to learn French or wishing to improve their communication skills.
