The City of McKinney seeks a forward-thinking, innovative Public Works Director who is passionate about public service to provide sound leadership for the city’s Public Works Department. The Public Works Director reports to the Assistant City Manager who oversees Public Works, Parks & Recreation, Information Technology, and Human Resources. The successful candidate will be a passionate servant leader with significant experience in a large local government organization. They should possess the technical skills to direct the planning, operation, and maintenance of the city’s public infrastructure and service delivery of the Public Works Department.
The Public Works Director position requires a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, public administration, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university. Ten years of experience in municipal administration management and public works operations, plus experience and knowledge of engineering practices and principles, is also required. A master’s degree in public administration, engineering, planning, or a closely related field is preferred. Professional Engineering certification and experience/training in the principles of HPO are highly desired. Additional qualifying education or experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, or abilities may be considered as a substitution, one for the other on a year-for-year basis.
The compensation range for the Public Works Director position is $119,567 - $173,312.
