The Board of Directors of Alger Delta Cooperative Electric Association is seeking a collaborative and innovative leader with stellar interpersonal communication skills to be their next General Manager. The Alger Delta board has retained NRECA’s Executive Search Group to facilitate the search process.
Alger Delta Cooperative is a member-owned, non-profit distribution cooperative, that supplies electric service to its almost 10,000 members in six counties in Michigan’s central Upper Peninsula with revenues of over $15 million. The cooperative receives its power from WPPI Energy, a member-owned non-profit that serves 51 locally owned utilities.
Successful GM candidates will have demonstrated progressive leadership responsibility in their careers with a strong focus on external leadership, can work through others and understands the importance of economic development collaboration. Industry knowledge and being results driven, having high integrity and courage, the ability and want to develop employees with a financial and safety focus are key attributes.
It is preferred that candidates have a 4-year degree in areas such as business administration, electrical engineering, accounting, finance, or a related degree. An advanced degree is a plus. A minimum of 5-10 years of overall leadership experience is also preferred while previous CEO/GM experience at an electric utility is definitely a benefit.
Strong candidates will have broad electric utility management experience and knowledge that includes such areas as accounting and finance; electrical engineering, operations and safety; team building, and external leadership. Broadband or Distributed Generation knowledge and understanding are helpful.
The cooperative is headquartered in Gladstone, MI, is located on the picturesque shores of Little Bay de Noc. Gladstone is 58 miles from Marquette, MI and 120 miles from Green Bay, WI. Boasting a population of just over 5,000, Gladstone has the small- town quality and hospitality that the Upper Peninsula is known for.
