Serve as the Geotechnical Engineer for Y2 Consultants and interface with company staff and clients on geotechnical, soils laboratory, field inspections program, and environmental related projects and related components of projects.
MAJOR TASKS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide investigation design, cost estimates, scope-of-work, contracts, and coordination for geotechnical investigations and soils laboratory
Conduct field investigations for geotechnical and environmental
Perform sampling and logging of drill holes and test
Conduct Standard Penetration Test (SPT), field tests for the identification of soils using the Unified Soil Classification System including grain size and gradation, toughness, dilatancy, dry strength,
Collect, analyze, and interpret geotechnical data for building foundations, roads, other engineered structures including bearing capacity, settlement, and
Conduct slope stability analyses using GeoStudio Slope/W
Provided field observations, data, maps, and calculations in geology, geotechnical, and environmental
Provide project and site management of geotechnical and environmental projects to ensure worksite and project
Interface with Y2 staff to coordinate geotechnical and environmental related aspects of projects.
Manage all aspects of soils mechanics laboratory tasks including scheduling, performing analysis, quality control/quality assurance, reporting, ordering supplies, and equipment maintenance.
Perform geotechnical laboratory tests including sieve analysis, Atterberg Limits, specific gravity, moisture content, Proctor, and modified
Field Inspection Program
Provide oversight of Engineering Technician’s work related to inspections of walls, roads, etc.
Provide oversight of the Nuclear Gauge
Interface with Geotechnical and Civil leads to schedule engineering technician field time and work
Teamwork and Leadership
Maintain a positive working relationship with team members to interact with them on projects.
Collaborate with Y2 management and other teams to prioritize projects, workloads and needs.
Work with clients to ensure projects are meeting their goals and needs, then communicate necessary adjustments to management, teams, and

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Geotechnical engineer with 5 years’ experience conducting field subsurface investigations using drill rigs, backhoe, trackhoe, and other sampling methods. Professional Engineer License is required. Experience conducting SPT, sample collection, field and laboratory analysis of soils. Experienced in evaluating sites for access of equipment and site workers safety. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail and ability to work independently. Experience with designing retaining walls, GeoStudio Slope/W software, AutoCad, GIS and Microsoft Office Products. Experience, education or training in Engineering Geology is a plus.
