Full-time position available with KCMO’s Public Works Department, Capital Projects Division, 5310 Municipal Ave. Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Advanced and highly professional, technical and/or supervisory role involved in the street lighting program, designing and reviewing lighting, electrical and pole attachment projects. Familiarity with NEC, NESC, and AASHTO codes and standards. Develops contract documents and manuals for street lighting construction and maintenance projects. Prepares fact sheets and Ordinance documents to be presented at City Council meetings. Monitors and updates City's streetlight inventory and transfer of assets into maintenance program. Monitors maintenance contractor's activities through City's asset management software (Cartegraph). Reviews monthly and quarterly reports for system and contractor's performance. Verifies and tracks Key Performance Indicators and measurement data. Coordinates construction management and inspections of telecommunication small cell, smart city equipment, communication network, and banners. Verifies and coordinates KCPL service installations and circuitry planning. Prepares and presents materials, specifications, charts, reports, and illustration to City leaders as well as the Law Department on legal issues. Reviews structural analysis submittal for telecommunication, smart city infrastructure, and banner installations. Reviews field reports and documentation of construction activities. Coordinates with Risk Management Division to develop an electrical safety manual and train field personnel. Participates in snow removal activities as needed.
REQUIRES 2 years of progressively responsible experience as a Registered Engineer. Within 6 months of hire date, must be registered as a Professional Engineer with MO Board for Architects, Professional Engineers, Professional Land Surveyors, and Professional Landscape Architects. Preference given for an accredited degree in civil or electrical engineering.
