Fenstermaker is seeking a Senior Transportation Engineer to join the team. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work independently and with a team on various engineering projects relating to (but not limited to) roadway design, construction plan development, specifications, and construction administration; transportation feasibility studies, line and grade studies, basic utility design (i.e. water and sewer), and general drainage design. Projects and tasks will involve the use of various engineering software.
Position is based out of Fenstermaker’s headquarters located in Lafayette, Louisiana.
Engineer of Record for roadway design of transportation corridors varying from local, collector, arterial, and freeway roadway classifications through both urban and rural environments;
Preparation of engineering calculations, drawings, engineering reports, field observations, and required applications to regulatory agencies;
Manage projects and coordinate with engineering team and clients on all aspects of project execution (proposal, budget, scope, meetings, analysis, design, presentation, utility coordination, specifications, reports, etc.)
Pursuit of proposals to include Request for Qualifications (RFQ) and/or Request for Proposal (RFP) support, interview support/participation, and coordination with teams;
Project management skills in understanding proposals, budgets, resource management, estimating EAC (Estimate at Completion) concepts, etc.; and
May be responsible for the review and sealing of own projects or the work of the others.
Client Relationship Management-Act as a point of contact for customers on proposal development, presentations, and technical issues.
Ensure new and existing clients receive the highest level of service.
Generate complete technical reports and proposal materials.
Provide review and oversight of project work and reports prepared by junior level staff members.
Coach, mentor, and develop junior level engineers and staff.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Experience: 15+ years of experience in transportation planning, and actual transportation design and construction plan development;
Education: BS or MS in Civil Engineering required;
Professional Registration: Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Louisiana or have the ability to obtain reciprocity in Louisiana within a 10-month period; and
Ability to demonstrate being the “actual” engineer of record for design on a transportation project is a plus.
JOB RELATED & ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Technical background and expertise in roadway design principals, open and subsurface drainage design principals (i.e. concept understanding of drainage inlet spacing, pipe sizing, channel design);
Development of construction cost estimates to include pay item and unit price development;
Proficient in relevant design software, which may include Microstation (preferred) AutoCAD Civil3D (acceptable), GIS, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, StormCAD, WaterCAD, HydroCAD, or PondPack. Applicant must be at least a medium to experienced user of both described CAD design software;
Topographic surveying and right of way development;
General understanding of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, A policy on Geometric Design of Highways and Streets; and
Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development guidelines and policies relating to roadway design, and preparation of environmental documents for transportation projects.
Relocate to Louisiana for this position preferred;
Participate in a local, regional and/or national water resources associations;
Effectively communicate in both verbal and written format with clients, colleagues, local, state and federal government agencies;
Position will primarily work in an office setting; may require some field work as necessary to support the project needs; and
Thrive working in a team environment.
