The BioSystems Analysis Lab (BSAL) https://u.osu.edu/bsal/ in the Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering at The Ohio State University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate (postdoc) position in bioprocess/systems engineering. The successful candidate will be involved in projects related to: 1) process/techno-economic/life cycle modeling of biobased systems, and 2) lignocellulosic biomass preprocessing through mechanical, chemical and thermal means. The postdoc is expected to publish research findings in international peer-reviewed journals, present research findings in conferences/meetings, generate regular update reports, assist in grant proposal writing, supervise BSAL graduate and undergraduate students, and assist with other research activities, as needed. To appl contact Dr. Ajay Shah : email@example.com
A Ph.D. degree in Agricultural, Biosystems, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or the other related disciplines is needed. Experience in biomass handling and preprocessing, process modeling, techno-economic analysis, and life cycle assessment (LCA) is needed. Familiarity with one or more process modeling and/or LCA software is preferred. Familiarity with U.S. agricultural production systems is desirable. Other desirable qualities include the ability to learn/adopt skills and knowledge in solving “real-world” problems, creative and independent research abilities with a team-work perspective, and strong oral and written communication skills.
