Fisher Arnold is seeking an Electrical Engineer/Project Manager for the Birmingham, AL office.
The Project Manager, with minimal supervision from senior staff, will provide design and analysis for lighting, power, fire alarm, nurse call, standby power and related control systems for new construction and renovation of industrial, commercial, governmental, and healthcare structures in conformance to client requirements and applicable codes. The role will provide engineering to develop construction documents for the demolition, installation, interconnection, and control of architectural, electrical, and mechanical components.
The Project Manager is the contact for clients on a project by project basis and is the lead for quality control and implementation of Fisher Arnold’s QA/QC plan. The position will maintain the overall health of projects, prepare proposals, coordinate all disciplines, have the capability of stamping and signing documents as the engineer in charge, sends all deliverables to the client, mentors less experienced project designers & engineers, develops the project work plan, tracks and processes RFIs and submittals during construction, and ensures all site visits are completed in accordance with contract documents.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Track and process RFIs and review project submittals (shop drawings) for conformance with contract documents. Specify action required for conformance.
Conduct onsite surveys (including field measuring, verifying code compliance, creating contractor action item lists, etc., as applicable) at several stages of the project from the beginning to the completion of the project.
Possess and demonstrate the engineering knowledge and understanding to analyze electrical systems and to develop construction documents for the demolition, installation, interconnection, and control of architectural, electrical, and mechanical components using applicable codes (e.g. lighting and power distribution systems and sizing of equipment).
Collaborate and coordinate with other disciplines (e.g. architectural, mechanical, etc.) and contractors.

Education and Professional Certifications
Electrical Engineering Degree from an ABET accredited University
Active Alabama P.E. license or eligible to seek immediate reciprocity in Alabama
LEED accredited professional qualification preferred
Knowledge and Experience
Possess basic engineering knowledge of low voltage systems (e.g. fire alarm, telecommunications, and lighting control systems)
Knowledge of all aspects of NFPA standards, as they apply to electrical design
Experience with short-circuit analysis and coordination (e.g. SKM) preferred
Knowledge of emergency and standby power system design requirements
Design and sizing of electrical service and distribution system experience
Knowledge of NEC and IBC and the immediate ability to apply them as needed
Knowledge and experience with electrical designs for healthcare systems
Microsoft Office (emphasis on Excel and Word)
CAD applications including Autodesk (Revit and AutoCAD)
Engineering software for lighting design
Excellent written and verbal communication
Strong attention to detail
