Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Reviews development plans, rezoning requests, traffic impact studies and other transportation related issues for concurrency with design criteria and applicable codes;
Manages construction plan design process by overseeing contract preparation, coordinating meetings, acquiring necessary permits, and bidding projects;
Manages construction projects by preparing and administering contracts, coordinating meetings, verifying invoice items and authorizing payments;
Responds to citizen inquiries, performs field inspections as required, and designs solutions to transportation related problems;
Conducts special studies, prepares background reports and presents data to citizen groups and legislative bodies.
Studies vehicular and pedestrian traffic conditions.
Plans, organizes, and directs work in transportation studies to plan surface systems.
Supervisory Responsibilities May supervise part-time counters.
Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in engineering or directly related field and four years of professional engineering experience in area of assignment. OR An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.
Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Office, TIMS software.
Licensing/Certifications Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record. Professional Engineer license preferred.
