Kennedy Consulting, Inc. (KCI), A JMT Company, has an immediate need for a Highway Project Engineer. Successful candidates will assist the Project Manager in extending leadership, direction, and training as part of a design team that is engineering a variety of transportation projects including advanced planning and schematic design, as well as preparing plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E).
Provide project management oversight and applying engineering expertise in the daily operations for design production of transportation projects in accordance with good engineering practice
Maintain client relationships, quality assurance and quality control
Coordinate and schedule work to meet project goals on time and budget
Coordinate with engineering design staff and other disciplines to meet project objectives
Supervise and schedule work of other team members while working under the supervision of a Project Manager
Will be engineer of record for design developed by and under direct supervision of the candidate
Assist in estimating fees, determining scope of work, preparing proposals and contracts on large or multiple projects
Working knowledge of schematic and PS&E development preferred
Working knowledge of geometric design required
Candidates must be capable of working on multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced team oriented environment
Ability to write, speak, and communicate clearly in English is a must
Strong time management and ability to prioritize
Working knowledge of Microstation and Geopak is preferred
Working knowledge of hydraulics/hydrology design/analysis a plus
Familiarity with the following software a Plus: HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SureTrak, Open Roads (3D) or other 3D modeling software
Candidates should be proficient with Microsoft Office Software, including Word, Excel and Outlook
BSCE from an ABET-accredited undergraduate engineering curriculum required
Previous work experience on TxDOT projects preferred
Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed.
