Institute for building Technology is looking for an enthusiastic Professional Engineer. The role of the Professional Engineer is to oversee staff and special inspections for Class 2 and Class 3, smaller scale residential and commercial buildings, including with reference to New York City programs. The Professional Engineer will be responsible for facilitating the coordination and all management Engineering and Special Inspections services delivered for the project. The position will play a key role in the Special Inspection Program for IBTS.
Oversee single family/multi-family residential/commercial buildings inspections, Class 2, Class 3, including in accordance with New York City guidelines.
Review and verify all worked performed as outlined in the scope of work, in addition, verify work is completed in accordance with New York City Department of Buildings code
Identify, determine, and apply best practices in job documentation and performing scheduled program inspections.
Record, review and verify all required client and subcontractors' documentation, certificates, clearance items, letters, and reports.
Organize and review records for each applicant and project is required by City and Program
Inspect project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications and safety
Review material performance specifications, relating stress factors to determine design specifications and program requirements
Review and recommend, technical support to industrial or managerial project regarding design, construction, or program modifications or structural repairs.
Be able to read, interpret, and understand materials to determine the adequacy and strength of foundations, concrete, asphalt, or steel.
Inspect and verify selected materials, equipment, installation, methods of construction, fabrication, erection or placement of components and connections, to ensure compliance with approved construction documents and referenced standards as required by Chapter 17 of the building code or elsewhere in the code or its referenced standards
Prepare or present company reports on inspection related topics, specially NYC technical responsibility forms TR-1, TR-2, TR-3, TR-4, TR-5, TR-5H, TR8
Analyze survey reports, project, onsite findings, laboratory reports and findings, and photography documentation
Manage the coordination and overall integration of all Special Inspections field teams
Requires Bachelor's degree in Engineering with a minimum 8 -10 years of dedicated inspection experience in Engineering; Must have active registered NYS Department of Education Professional Engineers License(PE) or be able to demonstrate ability to reliably and legally obtain one through reciprocity with the State of New York within one month of hire.
Must be ICC certified with Class 2 and 3 inspection experience
OSHA 10?hour certification is preferred (Must be obtained within 30 days of employment)
Requires a valid driver's license and be lawfully permitted to operate motor vehicles without any limitations or restrictions
